Men's Fashion

This decade started out with the Civil War, so the soldiers came home with their closets filled with clothing they wore in the teens. During the 1920's, sacque suits were most popular, accompanied with shirts in the usual peach, blue-grey, and cedar colors. Black bolwer hats and silk ties were usually worn with the suits as well. Formal evening wear included tail coats, top hats, and white shirts. Knickerbockers was the appropriate casual wear for a well dressed man around this time. Also in 1925, baggy pants were introduced and stayed popular for over three decades. Gangsters like Al Capone influenced the men's fashion. Men's fashion in twenties pretty much stayed conservative just like most men's role in society at that time.
